From Grade One 1955, to Classmates Grand Reunion 2012, you have been with me all this time. Love you Kay Armstrong.

Cedric Boone 2:26pm Aug 6
George, you weren't the only one who loved that lady. I know you started with her in 55, but there are a bunch of us who followed your footsteps in grade 1. She was my first teacher in 59.

Cedric Boone 2:37pm Aug 6
On this past weekend, Geary witnessed an event that can never, ever, happen again. It was better than the weekend that the Comets won the Championship on PEI. Those of you who were around at that time, know what I'm talking about.

Donna Carr   3:08pm Aug 6
Also wanted to say a big thank you to Michelle Holt for supplying the cakes. They were beautiful as well as VERY tasty.

Geo Donovan 3:12pm Aug 6
There were a couple of Michelles, Donna. Michelle Holt for the cakes and Michelle Morehouse for the volunteer work she did, not only in the kitchen, but nearly everywhere you looked she was doing something. Wish I'd had her Superman cape for just little while, would have made my job so much easier. Thanks to both Michelles and anyone else who gave of themselves freely and openly. Thanks to both of you ladies.

Donna Carr   3:32pm Aug 6
Yes you're right George. Also a thanks to Dixie Carr (Rick's wife) for her help in setting up and disassembling and taking lots of photos of the event.

Dolores Carr  3:40pm Aug 6
A very Big Thank You for a great GRHS weekend and also a Very Big Thank you for all the new memories I can add to all the old memories of a great school and fellow classmates....The committee has done an awesome job.....and for all of us that Participated....FANTASTIC!!!!

Geraldine Brooks Carter     4:14pm Aug 6
It was indeed better than the PEI Championships - Donna and I were fed much better this past weekend - on PEI we had bananas and milk!

Wayne McCutcheon
PS: I would love to do it again after a couple of years to rest up.

Barbara (Simpson) Legere
Hi Dale – I have no doubt that you are sitting someplace nice and quiet today pondering the last year, and more, thinking “Was it worth all the work?”  I am more than pleased to say that “you people that worked at putting the weekend together made it more than worth it for those of us who just attended.”  I haven’t totally lost touch with Geary and area, especially Haneytown where many of my relatives live and where I moved from Enniskillen, but I connected with so many wonderful people over the weekend that I will remember for years to come.  But, over and above from that I want to sincerely THANK YOU and your
Committee for all the work and energy that you put into making this weekend happen.  I hope that you found the weekend rewarding and that you got as much out of it as I did.

Eugene was happy to meet you and connect with you through some of your relatives that he lived around and played with when he was young (that was a long time ago) in his years in Oromocto.  He often spoke of the Cogswell boys that he and other members of his family played with when they were young.  I don’t have George’s e-mail but I would appreciate it if you would pass along my comments to him as well.  I do not remember George when he was in school in Geary but he is a cousin to my sister’s late husband and we did speak about that. He did a great job.

Thanks again Dale – now take a rest and enjoy the rest of summer.
Best Regards
Barbara (Simpson) Legere

Retta Stennick Flowers         4:37pm Aug 6
Some wanted to be there, but because of circumstances beyond our control, we could not attend...

Cedric Boone 4:47pm Aug 6
Retta, you were not forgotten, nor Mae Woods or some others who due to circumstances just could not be there. I think Margaret is refering to the folks who had the ability but passed up a very good time.

Margaret Armstrong
Hi everyone ..this is a note from my sister Elizabeth Murray

Thanks for the pictures. Also I want to thank you personally for your part in the organization and execution of this great and successful reunion. You left no stone unturned and forgot nothing or anybody. I enjoyed myself immencely and will remember it for years. It gave everyone a chance to rekindle old friendships and meet new people. Again many thanks to you and your team. Elizabeth

Debbie Stevens          7:10pm Aug 6

I thought sure Patsy Cline had joined us! Thanks, Beryl, Austin, and all who made the Kitchen Party Jam so memorable.

Geo Donovan 7:43pm Aug 6
Saturdays Reunion cake. Weldon Carr won the privilege of first cut on the cake. Great new memories huh?

Dale Cogswell            10:26pm Aug 6
Fred Shanks' observations about The Lone Ranger were soooo funny, especially his losing faith in his Hero after seeing him on stage.

Dale Cogswell            10:31pm Aug 6
Kay Armstrong was my first teacher (with Blanche Oliver) in '56.

Donna Carr   10:33pm Aug 6
Blanche Oliver was also my first grade teacher. She left a big impression. Never forgot her.

Lena Howe Mitchell  9:18am Aug 7
What a great weekend....went by so fast! Very nostalgic....a true trip down memory lane! Thank you to all responsible for this memorable journey!

Darrell Smith 12:10pm Aug 7
Despite sciatica pain in that part of my anatomy below my back; filled, deaf ears from the flight to Toronto; a delayed flight and a somewaht constant headache when I was down- I would be back down to another reunion in a heartbeat. I totally enjoyed it from start to finish! And I am back to Geary in two weeks on vacation so hopefully will recognize some of you without name tags if I see you.

David Hildebrand     1:38pm Aug 7
Yours truly with Ted Carr and his wife Wendy. Would you believe I taught Ted in grade six at GRHS and (two years later) I taught Wendy at the McAdam Avenue School in Nashwaaksis. I hadn't seen either of them since and only found out at the reunion that they are a couple. One of the many wonderful experiences I enjoyed yesterday.

Wayne McCutcheon 1:52pm Aug 7
Kay was one of the kindest, caring and gentlest teachers I had. A great lady.

Wayne McCutcheon 1:52pm Aug 7
Bro,
I can't rember ever having a better time than I had this weekend. Seeing you, the Camerons and all the rest was worth a million $$.

Roberta Akcakiryan
Community Coordinator
Geary Elementary Community School

Good morning all you dedicated and talented people!

I just have returned to the school this morning, and wanted to send out a great big “Thank You” to each and everyone of you, for allowing me to be a part of something as wonderful as the GRHS Grand Reunion.

I really enjoyed my task of ‘Tour Guide’, and came away so much the smarter for spending time with your guests, not to mention, now I actually can put a face to all these darn community names, that have had me running circles for quite some time!

I tallied my 6 groups, and I took through 91 people, I imagine that the lovely Bertha must have matched that, as we only ran into each other once during the 4 hour period. What a success it was!

I have already had a few emails, regarding the article in this mornings paper, so I will have to get a copy, to save that for my file and future programs.

I also want to “Thank you “ all for the love and prayer you sent our way , for my husband as he continues on his road to recovery. This genuine show of concern, is exactly what makes the community of Geary, and anyone, who has ever lived here, so valuable as a friend, or community member. I am blessed to have had this opportunity to get to know each of you better, and work within your committee. I can’t wait for the next Reunion!

Please keep in touch, I know I shall, (I feel a ‘Legacy project brewing’ and will need all your ‘historical insight’ to enrich our efforts), and my ‘thanks’ once again.

Love Roberta

Bonnie Worrall
Principal
Geary Elementary Community School

Hi everyone,

Congratulations on a fantastic reunion. The article in the newspaper was well done! Thank you for your generosity toward your old alma mater - a renovation fund is a fabulous idea! Glad everything went well! Go Gators go! I am truly sorry I had to miss this gala affair.

Sandra Gahan 6:05pm Aug 7

Greta Howe Carr      6:53pm Aug 7
I could not attend the Reunion and I do not feel the people were singled out as a few special ones - I`m just sorry I couldn`t get to enjoy seeing all the you great folk. Glad you all had a great weekend :)

Dale Cogswell            9:17pm Aug 7

Congratulations to our former teacher Anne-Marie (Hovey) Tingley who today was named as one of ten to receive the Order of New Brunswick. So, on Sunday she received a GRHS Pin along with the thanks of former students and the next day appreciation for her work with children.

Dale Cogswell            9:48pm Aug 7
Pauline Tucker called yesterday and asked me to convey her heart-felt thanks to everyone for such a glorious day. She especially mentioned (2 or 3 times) how proud she is of George Donovan and wanted me to speak for her. She enjoyed meeting so many and being made to feel at home and remembered. Judging by the excitement and appreciation in her voice, she was truly moved by the love and appreciation expressed to her.

Dale Cogswell            7:21pm Aug 7
This is an email note I got from Lebaron Wood who is not on FB, but he gave me permission to post it:

Hi Dale,
Just a note to thank you, George, Rick, Bonny and Margaret for a wonderfully successful re-union. The whole weekend was spectacular.

I saw some school-mates I had seen only occasionally in the last 53 years and at least one I saw for the first time since 1959!

It was great to see the teachers! Two teachers were former school mates. Two had taught at GRHS whie I was still a student and only one (Phil Brown) who had the misfortune of attempting to teach me (French). However I don't believe he holds any grudges because I have had a few games of horse shoes with him a Mactaquac Park over the years.

It was nice to see Pauline (Justason) Tucker for only the second time since 1959. She was one of my brother Victor's favorite teachers.

It was grand that you read the lovely letter from Carol Tayes! Should you be in touch with her again please tell her that I was one of about a dozen teen-age boys who had a tremendous crush on her.

Finally, thanks again to you and all those who worked so hard over the last 18 months to make our re-union a roaring success.

Regards, Lebaron

Beryl Johnstone          10:04pm Aug 7
Thank you for all the effort you put into making all this possible. The reunion needed the inspired leadership it had and the enthusiastic classmates who could attend. I got to spend time with those special people I lost from my life through never forgot and hear how years had unfolded for them. I got to spend time with my family and friends....What could be better :)

Dale Cogswell            10:15pm Aug 7

Thanks again to those who played at the Kitchen Party Jam, especially Mark Fisher. Check out this link on Mark.

Dale Cogswell 10:21pm Aug 7
Beryl, thanks. You and your family played a significant role in making the weekend a success. It is much appreciate

Geo Donovan 9:30pm Aug 7

Fellow classmates, old friends, new friends, teachers, volunteers, and committee members.

Thank all of you people mentioned in any of the six categories of the line above, for making this one of the most enjoyable weekends. Guests would fall under “new friends”, and we sure made a lot of new ones. Without any one of these groups, this adventure would not have been as successful as it was. For those who could not attend, for any reason, we missed you. I’m certain your name was spoken more than once, thus we did remember you, and include you, and we know each and every one of you was there in mind and spirit. That is why we are friends, and have remained friends throughout all these years. We truly do appreciate your support over the past year and a half. Without your comments, and contributions, our Facebook site would have not have produced as much fun and laughter. I think it’s safe to say, for the most part “Our Facebook”, has maintained the cleanest image of all those preceding us, or those who will follow.

Many memories have resurfaced once again, and many new memories have been made. The many conversations, stories, hugs, tears, hand shakes, and laughter, tell us your three day reunion was well worth the effort. From the moment the ribbon was cut to open the event, until the only sound left to be heard was the click of the lock on the door, it was absolutely one of the best times in my life. I’m sure these words are echoing in many places, including the halls of Geary High. If not, they soon will be.

Together we have handed the torch to our successors, all the Geary Gators who will without a doubt, follow in our footsteps. Take this torch, be proud to hold it high, and represent one of the greatest schools this country has to offer.

No matter what part you played in this reunion, whether it was a guest, teacher, classmate, or Facebook participant, your presence throughout the past eighteen months, has been appreciated, you have helped make this reunion dream a successful reality.

To the best ever group on Facebook, GRHS Classmates, we thank, You.

Dale Cogswell            10:56pm Aug 7
Thanks, too, to Elmo MacDonald (Class of '57) for helping out. Elmo is not only an extremely proficient musician, he is an maker of violins, mandolins, and guitars! Check out this site for a couple of photos: http://www.fiddlehangout.com/myhangout/photos2.asp?id=17729&photoID=13795&albumid=0

Jackie Murray           2:00pm Aug 8
I want to thank the reunion team once again for the wonderful time I had at the reunion. Reminiscing with old classmates and friends of our time at GRHS was jut so wonderful. I saw people that I haven’t seen since I left GRHS and without the hard work of this team it would never have happened. Thanks Reunion Team -it sure was a grand time and you guys are truly the best!

Wayne McCutcheon You are absolutely right Jackie. It was almost like we went back in time to GRHS in the 60's. I was surprised at how many of us looked almost like we did in high school. Except for the bald heads, grey hair and a few extra pounds, I think we "ALL" could have passed for teenagers, at least for those 3 unforgettable days of the reunion.

Mary Ann Carr         9:29pm Aug 8
I also had a call from Pauline Tucker and she mentioned George Donovan and was so pleased to see him. She said the reunion was wonderful and she and her daughter Cindy loved the words from Bob Carr.

Mary Ann Carr         9:37pm Aug 8
A very big thank you to Dale, George, Rick, Margaret and Bonnie. The GRHS reunion was fantastic and all because of the above people. The hard work, time and effort that the team put in was very much appreciated by everyone. The weekend was nothing short of excellent. Be proud.

Margaret Armstrong
Jackie .I am still on a Reunion High , just cant stop talking about it

Wayne McCutcheon 8:49am Aug 9
To all GRHS Classmates: go to our Blog and sign the guest book.
Donna Carr   10:31am Aug 9
I'm putting all of my memorabilia from the package (name tag, pin, crest etc.) in a sand box frame and hanging it on the wall as a constant reminder of what a wonderful time I had at the reunion this past weekend. Again thank you to all for this wonderful experience.

Linda Adams 10:52am Aug 9
The decorations were lovely, as this picture shows...

Louise Barrieau Dickinson   7:41pm Aug 9
Awesome job Dale...... Awesome job by all....well done, hearing nothing but good comments.....very nice.....

Michelle Holt: re: 3 reunion cakes
I am so happy you all enjoyed them. It certainly made me miss something I love doing. The heat wasn't that bad the reward was worth it. Glad things are returning to normal for you all. You have my number for the future :). Thank you all for the opportunity to put a smile on your faces.

Bonnie Anderson      6:21pm Aug 9
I am truly happy that so many teachers participated. It was the icing on the cake. Or, should I say APPLE. Lol

Greta Howe Carr      7:47pm Aug 9

Rosemarie Boone      10:39pm Aug 11
Great picture.

Debbie Drummond Burtt     11:51am Aug 12
Getting to see your Mom was the hilite of my weekend. She is such an amazing lady! She was my grade 1 teacher and I was blown away that she remembered me!

Margaret Armstrong            5:09pm Aug 12
Debbie .. my Mom remembers everything.. she may not be able to see or to hear very much but her age has had no effect on her mind .. she totally loved meeting her former students ..

Bonnie Anderson      6:33pm Aug 12
What a photo opportunity this was. What a wonderful group of ladies.

Shirley Caseley          8:16am Aug 13
Great family photo

Darrell Smith                10:07pm Aug 13
My question to Jasper is how did he get so tall? He said he grew taller until he was 21 and I'm getting shorter every year due to degenerative discs. Them's the breaks!

Dale Cogswell                Posted Aug 12
I received this nice card from Alice Bradford last week. It was nice to see all the former teachers and to be able to provide an opportunity for them to see former colleagues again.
Bonnie Anderson            Aug 13
So pleased that she enjoyed her time at the reunion.

Geo Donovan                  Aug 13
What a compliment. Thank you Alice, we are so glad you enjoyed the reunion.
